The Accounting Assistant position encompasses a comprehensive set of responsibilities, primarily focusing on accounts payable (AP) functions, with additional duties in accounts receivable (AR), sales tax reporting, and month‑end close processes. This role is integral to maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring efficient financial operations within the company.
Responsibilities- Accounts Payable (AP):
- Vendor Statement Reconciliation – reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Invoice Processing – accurately code, verify and enter AP data into automated accounting systems.
- Payment Execution – conduct weekly payments to vendors by checks, ACH and wire transfers.
- Documentation Management – maintain organized records, scanning and retentive practices for audit and compliance.
- Audit and Research Support – provide necessary documentation and conduct research for internal and external auditors.
- Accounts Receivable (AR) Support: backup the AR Clerk, manage invoices, track incoming payments and reconcile accounts.
- Sales Tax Reporting: prepare and submit quarterly sales tax reports in compliance with state and jurisdictional regulations.
- Month‑End Close: participate in the month‑end closing process by reconciling general ledger accounts and ensuring accurate recording in both software and official books.

- AR Collection, Posting Customer Checks, and Invoicing Compensation and Benefits
- Education and Experience – Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, typically 5 or more years of relevant experience. Higher education may substitute for experience, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
- Technical Proficiency – working knowledge of GAAP and experience with automated accounting systems, proficiency in Microsoft Office, Intuit Enterprise Suite (Quick Books Online), and familiarity with Corridor software preferred.
- Skills – strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, effective prioritization and multitasking, and excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to interface with personnel at all levels.
Work Schedule:
5‑day work week, Monday through Friday, minimum 40 hours per week, day shift from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Salary:
Hourly pay range of $33.75 to $38.50 (equivalent to an annual salary of $70,000 to $80,000).
Benefits:
Company‑sponsored health benefits and a 401(k) plan available from the first full month of employment, with company match subject to vesting. Personal Time Off (PTO) is also provided.
