Who we are looking for:Cornerstone Servicing is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Servicing Center in Englewood, CO. This is an entry-level opportunity for an accounting or finance professional who is interested in developing a career within mortgage servicing and financial services.
The Staff Accountant will support recurring accounting activities, account reconciliations, journal entries, and cash settlement processes. This individual will work closely with members of Servicing Operations teams to ensure transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
- Location:
Englewood, CO - Compensation: $60-70k
- Assist with recording daily, weekly and monthly journal entries for operational loan activity and escrow transactions.
- Assist with Accounting entries and tasks, as assigned.
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and assist team to clear any outstanding or aged items.
- Prepare Client Invoicing on a monthly basis.
- Assist with Accounts Payable, vendor invoice processing, and month end accruals.
- Looking for candidates who will be a positive liaison between Accounting and other departments including Servicing Operations.
- Works with team in preparing schedules for external auditors and regulators as necessary.
- Proactively looks for improvements and aids Assistant Controller and team.
- Complete special projects as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of accounting, finance, banking, or related experience; relevant internship experience is a plus.
- Mortgage servicing or financial services experience is preferred but not required
- Strong interest in developing a career in accounting and mortgage servicing.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, including debits, credits, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to changing processes and systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
