POSITION SUMMARY

The Administrative Pharmacy Technician supports the Pharmacy Department through a combination of medication-related tasks and administrative duties. The role provides administrative support to Pharmacy leadership, including scheduling, meeting coordination, communication, and general office management. Strong accuracy, confidentiality, customer service, and multitasking skills are essential. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, this position may assist with medication preparation, distribution, inventory, documentation, and compliance.

Hours:

Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Colorado Pharmacy Technician certification or provisional certification required within a year of hire. National CPhT preferred.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Pharmacy technician experience preferred. 1–3 years administrative support experience required.
  • Skills & Abilities: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate clearly and professionally with staff, patients, families, and external partners. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team. Strong problem‑solving abilities, attention to detail, and consistent follow‑through.

    Demonstrated ability to manage frequent interruptions while maintaining focus and productivity. Ability to interact professionally with individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Professional, personable, and customer service‑oriented demeanor. Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential or sensitive information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); strong keyboarding and general computer skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Administrative Support Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to Pharmacy leadership.
  • Schedule meetings, manage calendars, coordinate travel arrangements, and facilitate department logistics.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support internal/external meetings, conferences, teleconferences, and special events.
  • Prepare agendas, minutes, presentations, correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, and communication materials.
  • Screen/answer phone calls, greet visitors, and provide front line customer service. Manage office functions including supplies, mail, filing systems, equipment upkeep, and document organization.
  • Assist with departmental data analysis and administrative problem‑solving.
  • Prepare and proofread documents for accuracy, grammar, and format.
  • Maintain training/competency materials, policy documents, and departmental records.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities
  • Prepare IV solutions and sterile products using proper aseptic technique.
  • Perform basic non‑sterile compounding (ointments, creams, oral solutions) following written formulations.
  • Read/prepare labels, calculate quantities, and assemble medications for dispensing. Ensure daily cleaning and stocking of IV and unit dose areas.
  • Perform accurate calculations and maintain proper documentation for quality assurance.
  • Stock automated dispensing cabinets and deliver STAT and non‑STAT medications to patient care units.
  • Maintain controlled substance records, perform daily counts, and report discrepancies immediately.
  • Process medication returns and credits.
  • Pull and document outdated drugs per policy. Assist pharmacists with data entry and patient specific requests (refills, missing medications, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and ensure proper calibration. Follow pharmacy information system workflows and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Comply with infection control and hand hygiene policies. Recognize and report medication‑related issues, errors, or near misses before the end of the shift.
