The Permit Coordinator plays a crucial role in construction projects at Mears Broadband. They act as a liaison between field teams and project managers, coordinating resources, managing documentation, and facilitating communication to support safe, efficient project execution.

Essential Duties
  • Ensure that all construction operations are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications.
  • Ensure all employees working on the project are working safely and productively.
  • Provide OJT training on construction practices and methods.
  • Assign daily production to in‑house and subcontract laborers and crews.
  • Requisition, assign and track materials needed for daily operations.
  • Perform audits of construction operations to ensure work is being completed in compliance with project specifications and monitor safe work practices.
  • Resolve complaints with property owners in areas where personnel are working.
  • All other duties assigned.
Key Qualifications
  • Technical Knowledge:
    Understanding construction drawings, specifications, and techniques in the installation of coax and fiber optic networks.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.
  • Organizational

    Skills:

    Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and maintain accurate records.
  • Problem‑Solving Abilities:
    Identifying and resolving issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Safety Awareness:
    Thorough understanding of OSHA safety regulations and Mears Broadband procedures.
  • Experience:

    Prior experience in telecommunications construction, project coordination, or a related field.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and prioritization skills.
  • Physical activity requirements:
    • Exposure to variable weather conditions, including hot and cold weather.
    • Sitting, standing, and walking for long periods on variable terrain.
    • Lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Manual dexterity for computer and other small equipment use.
  • Pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
  • High school diploma.
