Position Summary
This position will assess and provide intervention to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program which fosters achievement for all students. Develop, coordinate, implement and adjust instructional programs for ELLs. Encourage parent/guardian involvement in student learning through open houses, volunteering, parent/teacher conferences, etc. Utilize technology to advance program and increase student involvement/achievement. Develop and promote good relations among community and school clientele.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssess and provide intervention to English language learners. Utilize assessments to diagnose students' instructional needs in order to develop and support reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
Create an instructional learning environment that establishes routines and provides for student engagement through questioning, speculation, and originality.
Promote a learning environment respecting the dignity of the child that is perceived by students as fair and consistent. Incorporate additional learning opportunities for advanced and non-proficient students.
Ensure all classroom processes, procedures and data collection are highly organized and effective with optimal use of instructional time. Motivate, engage, and empower learners to track and monitor his/her learning.
Develop and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize learning in context and to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes aligned with 21st Century learning.
Collaborate with educators from other grades or subject areas to establish links between disciplines and influence school-wide curriculum and teaching practice. Demonstrate mastery of content and make curriculum rigorous and relevant to all students. Deliver content that is relevant to students and applicable to the real world.
Integrate and align Colorado Academic Standards, instructional objectives, instructional strategies, learning activities, materials, resources and assessments and differentiate lesson planning based on individual student needs. Use assessment data for evaluation and refinement of instruction practices. Provide small group and individualized services to all levels when appropriate.
Provide quality, accurate, constructive, corrective, specific and timely feedback to students that encourages them to perform at their highest level. Effectively communicate with parents and staff about student's progress and opportunities. Utilize technology and/or other avenues to communicate to stakeholders (website, podcasts, etc.).
Teach, monitor, and collaborate with educational personnel, community agencies, parents, and students to increase understanding of the student's needs. Actively participate in all staff meetings, PLCs, and other required events. Apply and implement knowledge, skills and new understandings to improve instructional programming. Advocate for and lead initiatives that will enhance student success in and out of school. Use professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision-making in practice.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Supervision / Technical ResponsibilitiesMay provide supervision of support personnel. Conduct supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to interview participation, training/development, assign and direct work, performance feedback, address complaints and resolve problems.
Budget and/Or Resource ResponsibilitiesPrioritize and schedule work tasks independently. Manage and maintain inventory of equipment and assessments. Project needs for budget planning. Maintain administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and school system policy. Review services for improvements and make changes as needed to ensure quality of services.
