Who We're Looking For

ZD seeks a Licensed Teacher (7-12) who brings active, responsive instruction to credit recovery and GED preparation—someone who delivers lessons, builds relationships, and moves students forward. We're looking for someone who will take initiative, dig into why students faced setbacks, and create conditions that prevent those challenges from recurring. If you are driven by a commitment to empowering students and equipping them with the skills, resilience, and self‑confidence they need to succeed in academics and beyond, this role is for you.

Who You Are

You are a proactive educator who is passionate about creating pathways for student success. Beyond delivering curriculum, you identify the underlying challenges students face and design interventions that build genuine growth and self‑efficacy. You are comfortable working in the moment—reading the room, responding to what students need that day, and teaching effectively without a script. You believe in hands‑on involvement and are eager to build a classroom where students gain confidence and develop the skills to thrive.

Your strength lies in recognizing individual potential and helping each student build the foundation they need to move forward.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction

  • Develop and adjust individualized learning plans in response to student progress, barriers, and needs.
  • Serve as the teacher of record for credit recovery courses
  • Facilitate tutoring and small‑group instruction to supplement computer‑based lessons aligned to student needs.
  • Facilitate SEL and executive functioning lessons and activities with 9th and 10th grade students to build academic strategies and prevent future course failure.
  • Create an inclusive classroom atmosphere that fosters collaboration, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging.

Student Support & Advocacy

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and resources, promoting student achievement and growth.
  • Advocate for student needs within the school, securing resources and accommodations to enhance equity and inclusion.
  • Conduct outreach to students and families to support engagement and attendance, fostering trusting, supportive relationships.
  • Build partnerships with local educational and community organizations, contributing to a sustainable support ecosystem.

Data Collection & Analysis

  • Track and monitor student progress, using assessment data to make programmatic adjustments and inform interventions.
  • Maintain accurate student records on attendance, performance, and other metrics to measure program impact.
  • Collaborate on data collection for grant objectives, contributing qualitative and quantitative insights.

Professional Development

  • Engage in professional development with ZD and Englewood High School staff to enhance instructional practices and stay current on credit recovery, GED preparation, and best practices for student support.
  • Actively contribute to team learning and growth, staying informed on trends in education.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Engage with colleagues, students, and stakeholders across communication platforms (Outlook, Teams, Google Workspace, Coda, etc.) to maintain alignment and share evidence‑based practices.
  • Develop and sustain district and community partnerships, enhancing opportunities for student success.
  • Participate in ZD and Englewood High School meetings, team‑building, and professional growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate on Zero Dropouts design teams for program and product development as needed.
  • Work to maintain a living systems approach that supports the building and sustaining of interdependence within the organization.
