ECE Teacher Assistant

Monday – Friday between 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

Reports ToDirector of Early Childhood Center. Day‑to‑day supervision by the classroom teacher and educational coordinator.
Position SummaryAssist early childhood teachers with supervision and general activities for children enrolled at Sheridan Early Childhood Center. Provide assistance to special education students in achieving Individual Education Plans under the direction of special and regular education teachers. Promote positive community relations among various school and community clientele.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Reinforce classroom learning concepts and support for typical and special education children, following directions from teaching staff.
- Assist with field trips and various life‑skill experiences.
- Monitor and assist with child behavior management.
- Monitor child progress and assist in providing adaptations and taking observations in the learning environment.
- Attend meetings and staffing sessions as needed.
- Perform diapering and toileting when required.
- Receive additional training for special health and educational purposes as needed.
- Assist in home visits, parent conferences, and engage parents in learning opportunities for their child.

Position RequirementsEducation and Experience
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum of two Early Childhood Education classes from an accredited college (ECE 101, 102, 103 or 238) or Certified Dance Instructor (CDA).
- One to three years of experience in an early childhood education environment.

EssentialPhysical Requirements
Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move students or objects weighing 5–50 pounds. Work involves frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, sitting, reaching, stooping, and squatting. Requires good hearing, vision, depth perception, oral communication, manual dexterity, and ability to operate equipment.
ClearancesBackground check through Colorado Department of Human Services, National Sex Offender Registry, State of Colorado Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and FBI fingerprint check. Physical exam certificate within one year of hire.
Salary$19.27 – $24.94 per hour.
BenefitsEligible for district health benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, and disability) and supplemental benefits when scheduled for 30 or more hours per week during the 2025/2026 school year. Eligible for leave benefits including vacation and daily leave. Employees contribute 11% of salary to the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA); the district contributes 21%.
