HOPE Online Learning Academy - Secondary Site Lead Teacher Job Classification / Work Expectations

Salary: $42,000 - $68,000. Full-time, exempt. Workday: on site 30 minutes before and after learning site hours. Based on HOPE Academic Year Calendar.

Summary

The Secondary Site Lead Teacher is a learning-site-based instructional leadership position whose primary responsibilities include delivery of the HOPE academic instructional program through direct instruction, collaboration, and coordination. Responsibilities include teaching, mentoring staff, analyzing data, assessing student progress, and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver intervention-based direct instruction to targeted students.
  • Communicate and collaborate with all stakeholders to provide a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment.
  • Ensure all components of the HOPE Academic Instructional Day are met at the assigned location.
  • Support mentors and instructional paraprofessionals in delivering critical‑thinking and intervention instruction by co‑planning, modeling, or co‑teaching.
  • Analyze site and student‑level performance data and collaborate with staff to make instructional decisions based on data.
  • Complete assessment and progress monitoring of student learning.
  • Maintain professionalism and commitment to community.
Level of Supervision
  • Entry‑Level: Minimum 5 years working with high‑risk students; focuses on foundational academic support, professional development, and compliance. Works under direct supervision.
  • Mid‑Level: Working toward CDE Licensure and some experience with secondary students; assumes greater responsibility for site leadership, staff mentorship, and academic initiatives. Works more independently.
  • Advanced: Current CDE Licensure, relevant experience, and advanced degree in an educational field; supports large‑scale academic initiatives, provides strategic direction, professional development at the site and school level, and may include supervisory responsibilities and mentoring of site and HOPE staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Priority area:
Instruction – deliver intervention and capstone instruction for identified students and coordinate both online and offline core and intervention instruction for all students (60% of time).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support and/or teach Senior Capstone offline and/or support online Capstone courses and maintain Capstone portfolios for enrolled students.
  • Identify, plan, and deliver appropriate offline intervention instruction or support online interventions to the lowest performing students (MTSS, READ, etc.) to address academic gaps.
