About the Role
Tribal One is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Water Resources Engineer to join our growing team. This role combines fieldwork, data analysis, GIS, and engineering judgment to solve stormwater and infrastructure challenges. You will support storm sewer infrastructure assessments, hydraulic modeling, GIS database development, and long‑term planning for critical water systems.
This role will require out of state travel.

Key ResponsibilitiesStormwater & Infrastructure Assessment
- Support field verification, inspection, and documentation of storm sewer infrastructure including inlets, manholes, pipes, and outfalls.
- Conduct condition assessments using approved metrics, standards, and non‑destructive testing methods.
- Assist with CCTV/televising reviews, manhole inspections, and data interpretation.
Hydraulic & Capacity Analysis
- Perform hydraulic capacity evaluations using industry‑standard methodologies and software (e.g., HEC‑RAS).
- Support inflow and infiltration (I&I) analysis, flow monitoring interpretation, and evaluation of existing and future system performance.
- Contribute to identifying system deficiencies and developing engineering recommendations.
GIS & Data Management
- Update and maintain storm sewer GIS databases, including field verification and attribute data collection.
- Recommend schema improvements and ensure data accuracy suitable for construction‑level use.
- Integrate photos, GPS coordinates, and inspection data into a comprehensive geodatabase.
Technical Writing & Reporting
- Prepare clear, well‑structured technical reports, memoranda, and planning documents.
- Support the development of long‑term maintenance, rehabilitation, and capital improvement plans.
- Assist in creating decision matrices and good‑better‑best solution frameworks for infrastructure improvements.
Collaboration & Project Support
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, GIS specialists, planners, and client representatives.
- Participate in project meetings, field coordination, and QA/QC reviews.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, or a related water resources discipline.
- 2–6 years of experience in water resources, stormwater, or civil infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with GIS platforms and strong data management skills.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling tools and spreadsheet‑based analysis.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Comfortable with fieldwork and interpreting large datasets.

Physical Requirements for a Water Resources Engineer
1. Fieldwork Mobility
- Ability to walk long distances on uneven, sloped, or unstable terrain during inspections and site investigations.
- Ability to climb embankments, access culverts, or navigate construction sites safely.
2. Lifting & Carrying
- Ability to lift and carry equipment, tools, or monitoring devices‑commonly 25 to 50 pounds

3. Outdoor Work Conditions
- Ability to perform field duties in varied weather conditions
, including heat, cold, rain, and snow. - Exposure to mud, water, construction environments, and natural debris.
4. Standing, Bending, and Repetitive Movements
- Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching during infrastructure assessments, surveying, or inspecting manholes and stormwater assets.
