Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Civil/Site Discipline in Denver, Colorado. The Project Engineer will utilize engineering skills to perform design tasks, including grading and drainage designs associated with development projects. Work within AutoCAD alongside staff engineers to collaborate and complete projects within established budgets, deadlines, and agency regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Review municipal zoning and land development ordinances and applicable agency regulations to determine the property's land development limitations.
  • Conduct site investigation & due diligence, including review of ordinances, utility service research, outside agency regulations, and site visits to establish comprehensive development guidelines.
  • Prepare concept drawings based upon client’s development objectives and conclusions of due diligence. Coordination with AutoCAD drafter included.
  • Lead the review and design of stormwater management & conveyance systems, using AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology design software.
  • Perform pipe sizing calculations for stormwater conveyance systems, including drainage area maps.
  • Evaluate surface runoff coefficients, invert, slope, velocity & hydraulic grade line using the Rational Method & Manning’s Equation.
  • Apply knowledge of local stormwater management design regulations.
  • Design grading to achieve value engineering through earthwork analysis and ensure site safety with appropriate design slopes.
  • Develop subdivision and site plan design and layout.
  • Design utility systems (stormwater conveyance, sanitary sewer service, pump station, water, gas, telephone service, etc.) and resolve vertical and horizontal utility conflicts.
  • Design soil erosion & sediment control, including stability calculations, best management practices, swale design, spillway design, and construction sequencing.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates based on site plan drawings for bonding and client purposes.
  • Work independently and lead a team of other engineers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 4–7+ years of related experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) required.
  • Professional Engineer license (as required) preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
  • Knowledge of local municipal, county, and state land use, planning and zoning processes and regulations. Ability to read, write and understand English for written job‑related communications and verbal instructions.
  • Proficiency in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading and other site development designs.
  • Demonstrated Civil 3D skills with the ability to design site layouts from concept through completion.
  • Self‑starter who can work independently and with team members.
Compensation

$94,710 to $117,480 per year (depending on qualifications)
