About this Role
PAR Electrical Contractors, LLC is seeking an experienced Project Manager II – with Substation experience that will be responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, and closing electrical substation construction and maintenance projects in a safe, profitable, and timely manner. This role manages medium to large‑scale substation projects, coordinates internal crews and subcontractors, ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, and serves as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
The Project Manager II demonstrates strong technical knowledge of substation work and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Salary Range: $105,000 - $135,000, based on experience.
What You'll Do Project Planning & Execution- Plan, schedule, and manage substation construction, upgrade, and maintenance projects from kickoff through closeout.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, work plans, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate material procurement, equipment, and manpower to meet project milestones.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
- Track labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor costs.
- Review and approve invoices, change orders, and project billing.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Serve as the primary liaison with utility clients, inspectors, engineers, and internal leadership.
- Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and coordination calls.
- Communicate project status, risks, and mitigation plans to stakeholders.
- Manage change orders and contract modifications in coordination with clients.
- Enforce PAR Electric safety policies, OSHA regulations, and client‑specific safety requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project activities.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective action planning.
- Supervise and support field supervisors, foremen, and project support staff.
- Coordinate with engineering, estimating, and procurement teams.
- Mentor junior project managers and project engineers as needed.
- Foster collaboration, accountability, and high performance within project teams.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to construction drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, and final acceptance activities.
- Manage project documentation, reporting, and closeout deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 5–7 years of project management experience in electrical utility construction.
- Demonstrated experience managing substation construction or maintenance projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical substation systems, equipment, and construction practices.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Professional certifications such as PMP or similar.
- Experience working with investor‑owned utilities, cooperatives, or municipal utilities.
- Familiarity with union labor environments.
- Experience with high‑voltage (HV/EHV) substation projects.
- Strong leadership and decision‑making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, field‑oriented environment.
- Strong problem‑solving and risk management capabilities.
Physical Requirements
- Combination of office and field work at active construction sites.
- Ability to travel to project sites as required.
- Must be able to comply with all safety requirements, including PPE use.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Denver, CO metro area.
