Role Overview
Materials and Processes Engineer within the Fleet Ballistic Missile team at Lockheed Martin Space. The role involves working in laboratory and manufacturing environments to develop and evaluate materials and processes for defense missions.
Responsibilities- Select materials and processes for new designs, gain hands‑on manufacturing experience, and oversee supply chain for mission‑critical products.
- Perform technical engineering assignments in materials and processes.
- Troubleshoot problems and develop innovative solutions.
- Participate in selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials & processes; prepare reports, specifications, and evaluate suppliers and test reports.
- Coordinate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement disciplines.
- Experience with materials and process engineering disciplines such as non‑metals/organics, composites, adhesives, bonding, cleaning, material accelerated aging, and manufacturing operations.
- Experience with non‑conformance and failure analysis disposition.
- Relevant materials or process experience or related field of study.
- Formal coursework or training in materials or processes for development, improvement, design, application, and production.
- Eligibility and willingness to obtain or maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
- Experience with aerospace materials and processes.
- Knowledge of technical requirements—material and process specifications, program requirements, plans, and related documentation.
- Understanding of material properties definitions.
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering (desired).
- Good writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Active or current Top Secret Security clearance.
This position requires a Top Secret security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.

Annual base salary range: $85,500 - $150,765 (varies by state).
