Mechanical Engineering Manager – Post Boost Control System (PBCS) IPT
This position is for a Mechanical Engineering Manager in the Post Boost Control System (PBCS) IPT that both collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. In this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the PBCS IPT with our Navy partner, LM leadership, and suppliers, with many opportunities for career development along the way. The PBCS IPT is responsible for the development, manufacture, and management of the PBCS which is an attitude control and propulsive subsystem.
Responsibilities- Lead the PBCS Design and Analysis Team and manage engineering staff; develop technical skills and ensure technical excellence for all products.
- Define and execute a multi‑year PBCS strategy aligned with LE and LE‑2 goals (Strategic Vision & Roadmap).
- Manage a cross‑functional team of approximately 20 professionals; recruit, develop, and retain top talent and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning (Leadership & Talent Management).
- Serve as the senior liaison between business units, translating business requirements into technical solutions and ensuring stakeholder buy‑in throughout the project lifecycle (Stakeholder Alignment).
- Oversee a portfolio of PBCS projects, including implementation, migration, upgrade, and reporting automation, ensuring delivery on schedule, scope, and cost (Program & Portfolio Management).
- Evaluate emerging technologies such as AI/ML forecasting, robotic process automation, and cloud‑native analytics, and integrate them into the PBCS ecosystem where appropriate (Innovation & Technology Integration).
- Manage relationships with outside customers (Vendor Management).
- Lead a team of motivated individuals in the development of an attitude control propulsion subsystem.
- Lead a team in development of a high‑profile proposal.
- Enhance cross‑discipline product development.
- Participate in mentorship opportunities and professional development.
- Serve as the cost & schedule interface to FBM management and our Navy counterparts.
- Experience in Engineering Development (SRR/PDR/CDR).
- Experience in engineering analysis and/or design.
- Demonstrated team leadership or prior management experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD TOP SECRET clearance.
- Technical degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education.
- Missile and/or aerospace related education or experience.
- Experience with Satellite or Missile Propulsion.
- Prior management experience.
- Experience with FBM processes and products.
- Demonstrated behaviors of a systems thinker; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve very sophisticated problems and implement constructive change.
- Risk and opportunity experience with an understanding of continuous improvement concepts.
- Experience in areas of cost analysis, schedule, and risk & opportunity management.
- Ability to navigate a diverse environment and build consensus across functional boundaries.
- High integrity, ethical standards, and commitment to compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership and initiative.
This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration. Clearance level:
Top Secret.
The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $122,900 - $216,660. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location.

accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
