We are adding Project Engineers to our Central Division of Kiewit to support our growing infrastructure project portfolio around the country. You may support major highway infrastructure projects, bridge projects, rail/transit, aviation, water/wastewater and power. Our Central teams are the first construction team to the site, performing site prep for roads, bridges or industrial buildings. We perform mass grading, cut and fill, drainage, paving, underground piping and utility work, concrete form work, asphalt paving, and related activities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications for assigned work.
  • Examine and inspect field conditions, identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Inspect subordinates’ work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and take corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software with input from other project management personnel.
  • Manage document control; receive, log in new issue drawings and other contract documents; maintain document control log.
  • Review new issue drawings and contract documents for change of conditions; quantify impact of changes and review with supervisor; distribute new issues to field.
  • Prepare monthly cost projections and quarterly cash flow projections using project management systems.
  • Improve project operations by recommending better methods, staffing, and procedural changes.
  • Act as managing project engineer/coordinator on multiple projects, supervising and training junior field engineers.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications; visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  • Manage and support the project team, including direct reports.
  • Help drive the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level.
Qualifications
  • BS degree in construction management, construction engineering, or related engineering discipline plus a minimum of 5+ years of field and project engineering work experience in self‑performed construction, with a focus on heavy civil works/infrastructure; if no degree, at least 9+ years of experience in project engineering/field engineering functions.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience managing engineers with exposure to cost control and scheduling management, and the ability to act as a managing project engineer.
  • Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Highly motivated with a demonstrated passion for excellence and initiative.

Compensation

Base Compensation: $110,000 - $142,000 (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skill set, and/or location)
