Engineering Technician III – Overview
The Engineering Technician III is responsible for advanced construction, troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance of sophisticated electronic, mechanical, and optical systems. The role includes leading project teams, providing technical expertise, and ensuring operational excellence in ISR, aviation, and security systems.
Responsibilities- Lead the assembly and construction of complex electronic, mechanical, and optical systems.
- Perform and oversee advanced troubleshooting and repairs on equipment.
- Conduct precise calibration and testing of devices.
- Analyze and interpret test results, providing detailed reports and recommendations.
- Mentor and train junior technicians.
- Collaborate with engineers on research and development projects.
- Develop and implement safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Associate’s degree in a related field or 3+ years of technician experience (or equivalent).
- Relevant experience may substitute for education; 5 years of experience if no degree.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical/electrical drawings, diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
- Experience with standard laboratory test equipment, measurement equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Advanced proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining complex systems.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Previous experience or certifications within aerospace, defense, or manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or other 3‑D CAD software preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field preferred.
- Experience with research and development projects preferred.
- Proven leadership experience in a technical environment preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required for employment.
- Lift up to 30 lbs regularly.
- Be on feet for much of the work shift.
- Handle and assemble small components with dexterity.
- Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions and loud environments.
- Travel as required.
Estimated starting salary range: $38.39 - $52.79. Compensation varies based on skills, experience, and education.
