Job responsibilities include performing and leading the team in advanced strength, fatigue and fracture analysis of structural components, including non-linear analysis for the Major Development Structural Analysis Team. Facilitate all team work scope planning, prioritization, and execution including issue resolution and communicate status to program leaders. Create advanced analysis models, perform hand calculations and have an understanding of analysis best practices to provide strength inputs and recommendations for new designs and installations.

Review and approve 3-D engineering layouts, 3-D models, designs / drawings and 2-D drawing changes for a variety of propulsion, fluid system and mechanical system components. Make engineering design recommendations with consideration of thermal, mechanical and pressure loading using appropriate material properties, configurations, safety factors, etc. Analysis results will be documented in strength reports. Drive internal peer reviews, table top reviews and formal design reviews as needed.

Support fast paced design/analysis cycles and be able to evaluate hardware non-conformances to support production activities. Work independently and coordinate efforts across functional and product teams. Assist in developing the teams processes and capabilities as well as mentoring jr. engineers. Assist the team in creating analysis automation tools.

Required education:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university. Minimum of 6 years of related work experience. Resolve technical issues leveraging all available analysis tools and methodologies. Ability to make design recommendations based on analysis results/experience. Proficiency with MS Office tools and agile tools including JIRA. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are essential.

General understanding of materials and material properties. Advanced experience with structural analysis (tanks, adapters, brackets). Advanced experience analyzing propulsion hardware (tubing, ducting, flex joints). Understanding and development of fatigue/fracture analysis tools and methodology. Understanding and development of bolted joint modeling and analysis. Understanding of GD&T standards and principles. Understanding and development of analysis best practices and underlying assumptions. Understanding of basic hand calculations.

Experience resolving hardware nonconformance.
