WiFi Engineer II
We are seeking a Wireless Engineer 2 to join our Customer Provided Equipment WiFi Development team in the Englewood, CO office. Ideally, we are looking for a skilled, Wireless Network Engineer with experience defining requirements and architecture for new wireless features and someone who is motivated to help us envision, launch and improve industry leading advanced wireless platforms and services.
Job Description:
You will be working inside the Wi-Fi Team for Charter Communications, supporting the requirements and architecture definition of Customer Provided Equipment (CPE Devices/routers). As a member of the WiFi Architecture team, you will be working directly with cloud native routers and test tools to develop, test and improve new wireless products and services for Charters customers. This job requires intrinsic motivation, a lot of self-directed achievement and an ability to work in a dynamic product development environment.
Responsibilities (some or all)
- Defining architecture and solutions for WiFi features and equipment addressing customer-centric wireless use cases
- Research and development of wireless technologies and solutions for use in customer premise WiFi equipment deployed in carrier networks
- Defining requirements for WiFi hardware and features and developing tests plans and test cases to validate proposed requirements
- Employing data science techniques and analyzing large datasets to assist in proactive network management of larger wireless networks
- Identify root causes of RF and wireless issues encountered with equipment deployed in the lab, at test houses or in production networks.
- Understanding and administration of wireless test equipment and analysis and processing of test results.
- Developing data models and software tools to organize and analyze large collections of wireless metrics
- Developing software and tools for interacting with cloud services, databases and large datasets
- Working with vendors to ensure adequate support and resolution of bugs
Qualifications
Must have
- Understanding and working knowledge of WiFi/Wireless Protocols & Standards
- Proficient in Linux and scripting; proficient in Python and/or c++
- Ability to troubleshoot issues methodically and understand the root cause.
- Proficient data networking knowledge (OSI Model, Protocols, based route/switch)
- Familiarity with iPerf, Wireshark and analysis of packet captures.
- Experience using data science and visualization tools (e.g. Pandas)
- Familiarity with RF communication.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work in a lab environment.
- Ability to work with members across teams.
Desirable to have:
- Electrical engineering/telecommunication background
- Masters degree in electrical engineering or computer science
- Experience architecting and deploying cloud services, databases and controllers and familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS
- Wired and/or Wireless Networking experience
- Experience with Managed WiFi Systems and Equipment, including WiFi Controllers
- Experience with any of the following test tools:
Ixia, Spirent, Octobox, Rohde & Schwarz - Experience with WiFi functional, performance and stability testing
- Machine learning experience
