Position: Structural Engineer ( Stress) III

Johnson Service Group is looking for a contract Structural Engineer to work in Englewood, CO.

Rate: $65.00-$75.00 DOE

Responsibilities

Design, evaluate, and certify cutting-edge products and services, ranging from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems to highly integrated ground and air vehicles and orbital/space exploration systems. Examine complex metallic and composite structures and systems, and design and develop new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle.

Physical, Mental, and Emotional Requirements
  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps.
  • Frequently repeat the same hand, arm, and finger motions many times, requiring finger and hand dexterity.
  • Rarely lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
Working Conditions
  • Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.).
  • Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials.
  • Rarely exposed to loud noises.
Required

Skills and Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Computer Aided Engineering tools.
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Experience with static and/or dynamic analyses.
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Typically 6 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Understanding of engineering principles and practices.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in Engineering Simulation using Finite Element structural analysis (FEA) tools such as MSC Patran, Nastran, FEMAP, or ANSYS.
  • Ability to perform classical analysis using industry-standard hand calculation methods.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles (parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processes).
  • Ability to author substantiation reports.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • Familiarity with weld analysis.
  • Experience with LS-DYNA3D.
  • Vibration analysis experience.
