Provide design expertise, mentorship, and QA/QC oversight while helping teams solve complex engineering challenges and deliver high-quality utility designs. This role offers a flexible hybrid schedule with 1–2 days in the office and occasional field visits.
What You'll Do:
- Technical QA/QC Leadership: Perform detailed technical reviews of overhead and underground electric distribution designs, ensuring compliance with Xcel Energy construction standards, NESC codes, fire mitigation requirements, and joint-use specifications.
- Collaborative Mentorship: Serve as a technical resource and coach for the design team by working alongside designers at all experience levels, providing guidance, explaining design decisions, and helping strengthen technical skills.
- Process Alignment & Adaptability: Learn and apply team-specific design workflows, tools, and tracking systems while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and enhancing QA/QC processes.

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in electric distribution design (overhead and underground).
- Strong, direct familiarity with Xcel Energy design manuals, GIS platforms (such as GE Small world), and construction standards is highly preferred.
- Confident in utility engineering math, including pole loading (e.g., O-Calc), transformer sizing, and voltage drop calculations.
What We Offer:
- A supportive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and encourages innovation.
- Opportunities for professional growth and career development.
- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, retirement program with a company match, tuition reimbursement, and flexible work schedules.
