Structural Engineer IV

An engineering firm serving the mining industry is seeking a Structural Engineer IV to perform structural analysis and design for mining and bulk material handling projects. This role covers structural design, code compliance, and detailing for systems such as conveyors, crushers, screens, tanks, and pipe supports. The position also includes reviewing the work of other structural engineers and mentoring engineering interns and early career staff.

Full time, office based, with occasional evening or weekend meetings. Domestic and international travel may be required for projects.

$115,000 to $157,000 per year, based on experience.

The Structural Engineer IV will be responsible for the structural design, design criteria, and code compliance of entire structural systems and projects in the mining and bulk material handling space. This includes assisting with initial structural layouts and beam sizing, supporting material takeoff estimates for proposals, and communicating structural information such as member sizes, connections, and welds to other teams for project drawings and specifications.

The role covers structural analysis and design of steel supports for conveyors, crushers, screens, tanks, pipes, and other equipment, along with their foundations, and requires preparing design criteria that account for all relevant loads on the structure. This person will prepare 2D and 3D structural drawings in CAD software, develop material takeoffs and bills of material, and review vendor documents for structural components.

In a supervisory capacity, this engineer will review the designs of other structural engineers for code and specification compliance, advise on initial structural layouts across disciplines, and mentor structural engineering interns and early career engineers.
