Controls Engineering is an organization within FBM that facilitates control of the missile through servo actuators, gas hydraulic systems and small rocket motors. This position is for an Engineer in the Boost Control System (BCS) IPT that both collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. In this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the BCS IPT with our Navy partner, LM leadership, and suppliers, with many opportunities for career development along the way. The BCS IPT is responsible for the development, manufacture, and management of the control systems used during the boost phase of the missiles flight.

This role is for a Mechanical Engineer Certified Principal Engineer(CPE) Delegate for the FBM Mechanical Controls team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: manage hardware components, be empowered to develop technical solutions, and potentially be the technical lead of a component throughout different phases of the product life-cycle (qualification, production, service support, aging, etc.). The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of mechanical design and any combination of exposure to: engineering project management, propulsion, rocketry, aerodynamics, mechanisms, or materials or fluids.

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field or related technical discipline
• Professional experience with complex mechanical design model/drawing interpretation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Any combination of exposure to: engineering project management, propulsion rocketry, aerodynamics, mechanisms, and/or fluids
• Understanding of Engineering Lifecycle
• Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment

• Missile/rocket and/or aerospace-related education or experience
• Experience with CAD and hardware modeling tools (e.g. Solid Works/CREO, Matlab)
• Experience in gas/fluid dynamics or energetics/propellants
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership and initiative
• Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00 At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
