Compensation Range

Hourly: $21.60 – $26.30 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

Our Personal Bankers are personable, goal‑oriented, and passionate about helping our customers improve their financial health. As a Personal Banker, you’ll gain valuable insight into banking and finance while helping customers with their daily financial challenges. Personal Bankers are the key ambassadors of the Commerce Bank brand. In this retail banking role, you will develop and maintain long lasting relationships with customers, co‑workers, and other areas of the business. Your goal is to uncover each customer’s financial needs and provide tailored solutions.

Personal Banker Responsibilities
  • Receive the tools, resources, and training needed to be successful and have opportunities to advance within Commerce Bank.
  • Deliver an excellent customer experience in person and over the phone to meet financial needs.
  • Actively listen to customers to recommend appropriate products and services.
  • Educate customers on retail products and digital solutions that improve their financial wellness.
  • Ensure financial transactions are completed accurately and efficiently, complying with all policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish relationships with other internal departments and refer customers to specialists for complex needs.
  • Earn more than base pay through our quarterly incentive program.
Essential Functions
  • Interact with customers in person and over the phone to ensure needs‑based conversations and sales fulfillment.
  • Listen, understand, and recommend products and services aligned with customer needs to achieve sales and service goals.
  • Educate customers on retail products and digital solutions to enhance the experience and support sales objectives.
  • Complete financial transactions accurately and efficiently, following all policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify complex financial needs and refer customers to bank specialists when appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Strong sales skills with the ability to deliver excellent customer experience in‑person and over the phone.
  • Ability to meet personal and branch sales and customer service expectations.
  • Motivated, organized self‑starter with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Adaptable to various situations with an optimistic outlook aligned with our culture and Core Values.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent; or combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years of sales or customer service experience.
  • Experience in an environment with individual and team sales goals preferred.

Position may be filled as a Personal Banker I or a Personal Banker II, depending on experience and education.

For this position, federal regulations require Commerce Bank to prepare an investigatory consumer report that will disclose credit history. If you are considered for this position, you will be asked to authorize that report.

For individuals applying, assigned and/or hired to work in areas with pay transparency requirements, Commerce is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Compensation decisions are dependent on circumstances. The current base pay estimate is $21.60 to $26.30 per hour, with eligibility for additional performance‑based incentive compensation.
