Job Summary And Qualifications

The Central Sterile Processing Technician II will be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to coordinate and collaborate in the overall cleaning, disinfection, assembly, and sterile processing of instruments needed for daily surgical and invasive procedures. He/she is knowledgeable regarding instrumentation handling, care, cleaning, assembly, and sterilization. Is able to document all processes and ensure sterilization parameters are met in accordance with Hospital policy and AAMI standards.

The Central Sterile Processing Technician II performs delegated duties consistent with his/her scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan for Swedish Medical Center. The Central Sterile Processing Technician II displays positive support for the values and mission of Swedish Medical Center. Call and weekends may be required for this position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides asset management and support of surgical instruments and trays belonging to or consigned to the facility in accordance with The Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, and AORN standards.
  • Properly handles, decontaminates, assembles, sterilizes, and returns for use all instrumentation in accordance with the above organizational standards.
  • Assists to develop and establish work flow, process improvements, daily work assignments, log documentation, and management.
  • Accurate and timely reporting of shift details to incoming shift staff, Lead Central Sterile Processing Technician, and SPD Manager.
