About Corporate Security

Cognizant Corporate Security is a global organization chartered with managing and directing enterprise information and physical security programs. Corporate Security provides oversight and coordination across the company including information technology, human resources, communications, legal, facilities, and delivery organizations. The team is responsible for defining security standards, identifying risks, and driving security compliance across all business units.

Within Corporate Security, the Security Architecture Commercial function focuses on strengthening the security posture of Cognizant’s Commercial operations. Within the Health Sciences space this includes payer and provider services, hosted healthcare platforms, and emerging healthcare technologies. The team partners with engineering, cloud, infrastructure, and business leads to guide secure design and reduce risk in regulated environments.

Position Description

Cognizant is seeking a Security Architect at the Senior Manager level to support the Healthcare Security Architecture program. This role requires an experienced and versatile security professional who can design, review, validate, and advise on security requirements for complex healthcare systems.

The ideal candidate brings broad technical knowledge and the ability to identify gaps across platforms, applications, and infrastructure. This role requires strong understanding of healthcare regulatory expectations and the ability to translate them into concrete technical requirements. The architect will also help identify overlapping security capabilities, drive consolidation opportunities, and contribute to future reference architectures.

This role demands excellent communication skills, the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders, and a willingness to dive into complex problems. This is an influential technical leadership role, not a people manager position.

The architect will collaborate closely with engineering teams, platform teams, cloud architects, delivery organizations, and governance groups to ensure compliance with Corporate Security standards. The ability to communicate clearly, think critically, and work independently is essential.

The ideal candidate has:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field. A master’s degree is beneficial.
  • Eight to ten years of experience in security architecture or security engineering with significant exposure to enterprise systems.
  • Hands on experience in at least four distinct security domains such as identity, network security, cloud security, encryption, data protection, logging and monitoring, or endpoint security.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance requirements including HIPAA, HITECH, HITRUST, SOC, and NIST.
  • Experience reviewing architectures and identifying risk, security gaps, and compensating controls.
  • Ability to quickly research new topics, gather evidence, and prepare clear technical recommendations.
  • Familiarity with creating structured processes for the review of security designs, including documenting risks and validating compliance.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to identify appropriate security controls that address risk while supporting business requirements.
  • Capability to create reference architectures to strengthen future design work.
  • Ability to author, interpret, and discuss security standards in an authoritative and practical manner.
  • Experience…
