The IT Business Systems Analyst serves as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and Information Technology, ensuring technology solutions align with business objectives and operational requirements. This role is responsible for analyzing business processes, gathering and documenting requirements, supporting enterprise applications, driving process improvement initiatives, and ensuring successful delivery and adoption of technology solutions.
The Business Systems Analyst partners with stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Asset Management, Sales, and Corporate Functions to identify opportunities for process improvement, enhance reporting and data visibility, improve system utilization, and support enterprise technology initiatives. The role plays a critical part in the ongoing optimization of D365 Finance & Operations and other enterprise business systems.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

- Business Process Analytics & Requirements Management (35%)
- Facilitate business process discovery sessions, workshops and stakeholder interviews.
- Document current-state and future-state business processes.
- Gather, analyze, prioritize and document system requirements.
- Develop business requirements documents, functional specifications, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
- Perform gap analysis between business requirements and system capabilities
- Identify opportunities for process automation, standardization, and operational efficiency.
- Partner with business stakeholders to develop solution recommendations and business cases.
- Maintain requirements traceability throughout project life cycles.
- Communicate complex business and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Enterprise Applications & Business Systems Support (25%)
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for enterprise business applications, including D365 Finance & Operations.
- Support configuration, testing, deployment, and optimization of business systems.
- Analyze system issues and coordinate resolution with internal teams and external vendors.
- Evaluate enhancement requests and recommend solutions.
- Assist with security role reviews, workflow design, and system governance activities.
- Maintain business process and system documentation.
- Participate in application release planning and deployment activities.
- Reporting, Data and Analytics (15%)
- Partner with business stakeholders to define reporting and analytics requirements.
- Develop functional requirements for dashboards, reports, and KPIs.
- Support Power BI and enterprise reporting initiatives.
- Assist in data quality, master data, and governance initiatives.
- Validate reporting outputs and ensure alignment with business requirements.
- Support data-driven decision making through business analysis and reporting insights.
- Collaborate with data and reporting teams to improve visibility and operational performance.
- Testing, Change Management & Adoption (15%)
- Develop test plans, test scripts, and acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.
- Track and manage defects through resolution.
- Support deployment, hypercare, and post-implementation activities.
- Develop training materials and end-user documentation.
- Conduct user training and knowledge transfer sessions.
- Measure solution adoption and identify improvement opportunities.
- Promote best practices and standardized business processes.
- Project Delivery & Governance (10%)
- Support project planning, execution, and governance activities.
- Assist in coordinating project meetings, action items, timelines, and dependencies.
- Monitor project risks, issues, and scope changes.
- Participate in solution review and prioritization processes.
- Support portfolio management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with IT standards, SDLC, project governance, and documentation requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field.
- Relevant certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, Agile, Scrum, or Microsoft certifications are preferred.
