DescriptionAbout the Role
Jeppesen Fore Flight is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure & Operations team. In this role, you will help design, implement, maintain, and optimize our enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
You will serve as a senior technical resource for network architecture, security, availability, and performance, with a particular focus on Cisco networking, Palo Alto Networks firewalls, F5 load balancing, and AWS and Azure cloud networking.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, troubleshooting critical incidents, improving reliability, and building secure, scalable network solutions in a highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, deploy, and optimize enterprise network solutions, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and wireless infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain network architecture standards, technical documentation, and operational procedures.
- Ensure network solutions align with business requirements, security policies, and compliance standards.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Palo Alto Networks technologies, including PAN-OS, Panorama, firewall policies, VPNs, threat prevention, and URL filtering.
- Manage and troubleshoot F5 BIG-IP LTM and GTM environments supporting application availability, performance, and resiliency.
- Configure and maintain Cisco enterprise routing and switching across LAN, WAN, campus, and data center environments, including BGP, OSPF, QoS, HSRP, and VRRP.
- Support Cisco Catalyst and Nexus environments, as well as enterprise wireless infrastructure including Wireless LAN Controllers and Access Points.
- Implement and manage network access controls and AAA services using technologies such as Cisco ISE, RADIUS, and TACACS+.
- Manage corporate DNS infrastructure, including zone and record lifecycle management, Route 53, and security practices such as DNSSEC.
- Manage the lifecycle of digital SSL/TLS certificates, including requests, installation, renewal, and troubleshooting.
- Design and support secure, scalable connectivity across AWS and Azure, including VPCs, VNETs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Express Route, VPN Gateways, cloud load balancers, and firewall policies.
- Provide Tier 3 escalation support for complex network incidents and performance issues.
- Perform root cause analysis for major incidents and implement preventative and corrective measures.
- Develop and improve network monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance management capabilities using tools such as Solar Winds.
- Use packet capture, network analysis, and performance tuning techniques to diagnose and resolve complex connectivity issues.
- Automate routine network engineering and operational tasks using tools such as Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
- Act as a primary technical liaison with ISPs, carriers, cloud providers, and other service providers during outages and complex troubleshooting efforts.
Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, including at least 3 years operating in a senior or lead-level capacity.
- Strong expertise in Cisco routing and switching across LAN, WAN, campus, and data center environments.
- Advanced knowledge of network protocols and technologies, including BGP and OSPF.
- Hands‑on experience implementing, configuring, and managing Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including PAN-OS and Panorama.
- Hands‑on experience managing and troubleshooting F5 BIG-IP LTM and GTM.
- Experience designing and supporting network infrastructure in both AWS and Azure.
- Strong understanding of network security principles, IPSec VPNs, remote‑access technologies, and network access control.
- Experience with enterprise DNS, routing, switching, high availability, and network performance optimization.
- Strong knowledge of network monitoring tools, packet capture analysis, logging, and troubleshooting techniques.
