Division Director Purpose

The Valve Automation Business Unit Leader is responsible for the strategic and operational aspects of their respective business unit(s). This role ensures the delivery of high-quality services to customers, manages multiple teams, and drives business growth through effective planning, execution, and customer engagement.

Division Director Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategic and operational plans for the respective business unit(s) while staying in alignment with organizational priorities to drive growth and sustainability.
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in processes and resource allocation.
  • Lead the business unit(s) team to deliver high standards of performance, quality and safety, along with motivation and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure high quality customer service to maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain key customer relationships to ensure high levels of satisfaction. May visit customers when working on larger engagements to progress business objectives.
  • Collaborate with outside sales to develop sales strategies for products and customers.
  • Serves as the face of Applied Control; when interacting with Emerson through business unit reviews, and other meetings and interactions with Emerson.
  • Is a “change champion” helping the teams to move forward in the face of changing market conditions, business conditions and situations that require change.
  • Manage the financial performance of the business unit including budgeting and margin management.
  • Makes safety a priority within the business unit and enables a stop work authority mindset.
  • Is a cross-functional partner to many other internal teams such as operations, accounting and human resources. Strives to think big picture and company first when working on cross-functional initiatives to optimize company performance.
  • Challenges status quo and works towards process improvement and innovative ways to serve the customers effectively.
Division Director Skills/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field. MBA preferred.
  • Significant leadership experience in relevant industry, with a proven track record of managing teams and driving business results. Prefer specific flow control, valve, control systems or automation experience.
  • Extensive experience in sales, service, and organizational management.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and customer communication abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage composure while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to role model company values and lead with integrity.
Division Director Working Conditions

Includes working primarily in a professional office setting, with occasional assignments outside the office and in the field. This position requires evening and weekend hours on an infrequent basis and up to 40% travel is required.

Division Director Compensation

Base Wage Range: $140,000 to $160,000 annually. Prior work or industry experience as well as job-related education and unique skills will be taken into consideration when setting the wage rate.

Other Variable Compensation:
Eligible for participation in the annual profit share and bonus program, based on company and individual performance.
