Laboratory Technician
Job Description
The Laboratory Technician performs testing and analysis of data center and hydraulic products, operates specialized laboratory equipment, prepares samples, collects and records data, and supports engineering development activities. This role plays a key part in ensuring product quality and reliability by executing precise tests, maintaining laboratory tools and machinery, and contributing to continuous improvement in a fast-paced technical environment.
Responsibilities
* Perform testing and analysis of data center and hydraulic products in accordance with established procedures and testing requirements.
* Operate specialized laboratory equipment and measurement tools to conduct mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and related tests.
* Prepare samples for testing, including setup, labeling, and proper handling to ensure accurate and repeatable results.
* Collect, record, and enter test data accurately using data acquisition systems and standard data entry tools.
* Generate clear and concise test reports, documenting methods, results, and observations for engineering review.
* Support engineering development by conducting tests, providing feedback on test outcomes, and assisting with test method improvements.
* Use hand tools, metrology equipment, calipers, and other measurement devices to perform precise measurements and inspections.
* Perform basic machinery and equipment maintenance to keep laboratory tools and heavy equipment in proper working condition.
* Analyze and troubleshoot test-related equipment issues and procedural problems, escalating concerns when necessary.
* Follow all laboratory procedures and safety guidelines, including the use of required personal protective equipment.
* Collaborate with a tight-knit team, contributing to a supportive environment where team members can rely on one another.
* Meet training objectives outlined in the applicable training matrix and apply learned skills to daily laboratory activities.
* Plan and organize work to meet testing schedules, managing time effectively across multiple tasks and projects.
* Communicate clearly with engineering, quality, and other stakeholders regarding test status, issues, and results.
Essential Skills
* High school diploma.
* 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in laboratory, manufacturing, or related technical environments.
* Intermediate knowledge of product lines such as data centers, hoses, couplings, belts, and tensioners.
* Experience and knowledge of data centers, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and/or electrical machinery and systems.
* Understanding of mechanical laboratory test equipment and measurement tools, including metrology instruments and calipers.
* Understanding of manufacturing, laboratory, or quality assurance environments.
* Mechanical aptitude with the ability to work with hand tools, heavy equipment, and machinery maintenance tasks.
* Ability to set up and utilize data acquisition systems for test data collection.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Strong attention to detail when following procedures, taking data, and understanding testing requirements.
* Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to testing and data analysis.
* Ability to analyze and troubleshoot test-related equipment and procedural issues.
* Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
* Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
* Good planning, time management, and organizational skills.
* Ability to meet training objectives outlined in the applicable training matrix at leadership's discretion.
