Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with other members of the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator provides leadership through the collaboration of the Director/Designee through planning, organizing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the care provided for patients. The delivery of care is based on criteria that is age appropriate and is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and learning needs of the individual patients. Responsibilities include but are not limited to fiscal, human resource, and operational functions.

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care at Swedish Medical Center and displays positive support for the overall goals, values and mission of Swedish Medical Center.

What you will do in this role:

  • Assist with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
  • Participate in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and other managers to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service.
  • Support a patient-first philosophy and engage in service recovery when necessary.
  • Support the efforts of the facility to improve engagement by operationalizing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives.
  • Provide recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Recommend and implement courses of action, including training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, completion of performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions to ensure a competitively better organization.
  • Assist with staff scheduling. Manage all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
  • Support proper inventory control and assist with managing supplies and equipment.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Current BCLS through AHA or ARC
  • Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate nursing licensure
  • Bachelor Science Nursing or Bachelors degree in a health related field required. Graduate of a certified school of nursing
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical RN experience preferred
  • Two years progressive supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred
  • Able to articulate and demonstrate knowledge of nursing theory and practice
  • Demonstrated competence with patient care information systems
  • Strong planning, analytical and written skills
  • Ability to utilize and coach others in the nursing process
