Overview
Journeyman Glazier – ONE Glass Service is seeking a talented and professional Journeyman Glazier with 3+ years of experience installing commercial glazing products, including storefront, curtain wall, interior glass specialties, doors and hardware. The position will follow the plan of the day and perform standard work as outlined by the Team Lead. The journeyman glazier will note deficiencies, identify safety hazards, and report to the Team Lead.
All safety rules and procedures outlined by the Team Lead and customer must be followed. All major tools, safety equipment, and installation gear are provided; smaller power and hand tools are expected to be supplied by the candidate. and Requirements – Technical & Physical
- High School Diploma (or GED)
- Valid driver license and clean driving record
- Familiarity with the National Glass Association standards and practices
- 3+ years working on large and medium sized commercial construction projects, new and renovation in the glazing trade. Experience in carpentry and glazing trades is advantageous
- Experience with and understanding of general construction documents such as architectural drawings, structural drawings, product installation and shop drawings, and technical specifications
- Layout skills including basic builders’ level and/or laser operation with clear understanding of horizontal and vertical control
- Experience with multiple manufactured framing systems of storefront and curtain wall, including doors and hardware
- Experience with general glass types and identifying commercial IGUs, interior and specialty glass products
- Ability to work with basic apps and software from a remote device (e.g., iPhone or tablet); basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Bluebeam desired (training available)
- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 75 lbs regularly
- Experience operating mechanical equipment such as forklifts, telescoping boom lifts, scissor lifts, swing stage, and larger power tools (stationary or mobile)
- Experience working directly with owners or property managers on smaller service-related repairs and retrofit projects
- Experience in removal and replacement of older systems
- Experience with stick-framed systems from multiple national manufacturers
- Comfortable working at heights
- Must be able to pass a drug test and criminal background check
- Must be a servant leader with strong mentorship and the ability to train and guide those on the team with less experience
- Strong willingness to learn, understand, and adapt to the company culture and core values
- Excellent people skills and experience communicating effectively and professionally with customers and other trade partners
- Desire and demonstration of a high level of quality and craftsmanship in all endeavors
- Ability to provide examples of encountered problems, technical errors, and personality conflicts and how they were overcome to a degree that supports project closure
