Job Title

Performs a variety of skilled work installing, operating, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing industrial electrical power distribution systems, motor control equipment, process instrumentation, and industrial control systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Installs, inspects, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains electrical infrastructure and equipment, including power supplies, motors, motor starters, overload devices, breakers, switches, power monitors and other electrical related hardware.

2. Installs, inspects, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains industrial electrical systems including motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), transformers, UPS systems, electrical distribution equipment up to 15kV, conduit systems, grounding systems, and associated electrical infrastructure. Performs electrical testing including insulation resistance, continuity, voltage, current, power quality, and other diagnostic testing using appropriate electrical test equipment.

3. Installs, calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots process instrumentation including flow, level, pressure, temperature, and other field instrumentation. Configures associated transmitters, communication networks, and field devices used in industrial process control systems.

4. Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains industrial control systems including PLC hardware, remote I/O, power supplies, communication networks, HMI interfaces, motor control systems, instrumentation, and SCADA-related equipment. Assists with startup, commissioning, and functional testing of electrical and control systems.

5. Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains instrumentation and control system components as well as other equipment related to the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system including controls components associated with motor control centers, PLC hardware, power supplies.

6. Demonstrates working knowledge of industrial communication networks including Ethernet/IP, Control Net, Device Net, Profibus, Modbus, and other field communication protocols.

7. Applies logical troubleshooting techniques to diagnose electrical, instrumentation, and control system failures using electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, ladder logic, wiring diagrams, manufacturer documentation, and test equipment.

8. Performs electrical work in accordance with NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, arc flash boundaries, and SPR electrical safety policies.

9. Performs administrative duties including modification to record drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, HMI screens, I/O lists, and other technical information to perform job duties. Maintains Operation & Maintenance manuals, associated instrumentation drawings, and instrumentation standards operating procedures (SOPs), including digitally storing records per SPR Record and Retention Policies. Maintains and controls EI&C spare parts inventory by monitoring on-hand availability and determining reorder points.

10. Assists with the support of Engineering efforts, Pilot and Research (PAR) projects, and capital and asset improvement projects. Provides technical support during electrical system upgrades, MCC replacements, arc flash mitigation projects, power distribution improvements, and capital improvement projects. Provide electrical direction and instrumentation, technical support and expertise as needed.

11. Responds to off-hour emergencies as needed.
