A&P Mechanic III

Varstaff is looking for an A&P Mechanic III. In this role, you will perform repairs, replacements, and routine maintenance on critical aircraft components, airframes, and engines to ensure flight readiness. You will execute thorough mechanical and functional inspections, troubleshoot complex systems using technical schematics and blueprints, and replace defective parts using specialized tools and test equipment. Working in a safety-sensitive hangar or shop environment, you will uphold strict national and international aviation standards, ensuring all maintenance meets regulatory requirements while keeping the workspace clean and safe.

What We're Looking For Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 5+ years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience (A higher-level degree may substitute for experience).
  • Active, current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification in good standing (no prior FAA violations).
  • Advanced, hands-on skills repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting aircraft airframes, powerplants, and mechanical systems.
  • Possess a complete set of personal tools in good working order.
  • Must have reliable transportation and pass/maintain Class 3 physical requirements (including hearing and vision/color perception tests).

Must-Have Skills

  • A&P Certification & Technical Mastery:
    Advanced expertise in aircraft airframe mechanics, engine troubleshooting, component replacement, and functional testing.
  • Blueprint & Manual Interpretation:
    Ability to read and translate technical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, structural drawings, and maintenance manuals.
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
    Strong understanding of aviation safety protocols, hazardous material handling, and adherence to FAA and international maintenance standards.
  • Physical & Environmental Stamina:
    Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs., work in loud/outdoor environments, and execute repetitive manual tasks requiring high dexterity.

Nice-to-Have Skills (Preferred)

  • Experience working within an FAA Part 145 repair station or Quality Assurance (QA) environment.
  • Prior background in Aerospace & Defense, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), or U.S. Military aircraft maintenance.
  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Flexibility to travel, work varied shifts, and perform weekend or overtime work as needed.
