Company Description The KA Group (“KA ”) is a vertically integrated private equity real estate firm focused on the investment, management, and development of commercial real estate. Founded in 2008 by Kenneth Pasternak and Adam Altman in response to the real estate crisis, KA has grown into a multi-strategy firm investing in value-added, opportunistic, distressed debt, special situations, and ground-up development opportunities.
The firm has raised more than $300M in equity capital, with 49% contributed by its principals, reflecting strong internal commitment and alignment. KA has overseen the purchase of more than 100 assets and the sale of 30 assets, offering team members exposure to diverse and complex real estate transactions. Professionals joining KA can expect a dynamic environment with a focus on disciplined investment and active asset management.
The Controller will lead day-to-day property level accounting across the firm’s real estate portfolio and corporate platform, overseeing a team of approximately 4–10 accounting professionals. This role is responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and driving consistency across property and corporate accounting functions.
This is a technology-focused role. The Controller will use AI and other tools to expand what the accounting team can handle, so the platform can grow without a proportional increase in headcount. The Controller will also serve as a leader and mentor to the team, building their skills and productivity over time.
This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This role is based in-office full time in Englewood, NJ, with limited travel as needed.
