EMS remains committed to attracting and retaining exceptional faculty who demonstrate a deep respect for childhood, are excited about being leaders in teaching and learning, and want to work in a highly collaborative environment. Flexible practitioners who put student learning first will find that EMS is a student-centered and fulfilling place to work.

  • Integrate the use of the garden, greenhouse, and EMS campus to extend and enhance science learning
  • Teach students in a fair, warm, and open‑minded environment and manage the learning space safely and effectively
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create meaningful and realistic multi‑disciplinary experiences for students
  • Work in partnership with the science faculty to support a powerful continuum of science learning across the divisions
  • Maintain open communication with students, families, and administrators
  • Assume responsibilities outside of the classroom, such as lunch and recess coverage, car‑line duty, and other non‑teaching duties
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in science, STEAM, education, or a related field preferred
  • Experience in teaching students in early childhood and elementary grade levels
  • Confidence in creating an inclusive and culturally responsive classroom where differing identities and learning styles are honored and valued, and familiarity with Responsive Classroom strategies and Restorative Practices

  • The ability to work with a range of learning styles
  • A strong ability to build connections with young students and to develop an atmosphere of mutual respect
