Electrical Foreman

The Electrical Foreman performs commercial electrical work with a strong focus on multi-family apartment construction and service upgrades. This role involves installing and pulling electrical risers, managing service gear and distribution systems, troubleshooting electrical issues in both occupied and new construction environments, and supporting tenant build-outs and renovations. The foreman works across ground-up and renovation projects, taking responsibility for safe, code-compliant installations and the effective coordination of work on active construction sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform commercial electrical installation and service work in multi-family apartment buildings, including both new construction and renovation projects.
  • Install and pull feeders and risers, including conduit, wire, and bus systems, throughout multi-story structures and vertical chases.
  • Install, maintain, and upgrade electrical service equipment, panels, and distribution systems in mechanical rooms, electrical closets, and other building infrastructure spaces.
  • Run conduit and perform conduit bending for various applications, ensuring proper routing and secure installation.
  • Install and terminate electrical wiring for service equipment, distribution systems, and tenant build-outs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems in occupied units and active construction environments, identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Ensure all electrical work is completed safely and in full compliance with NEC and local electrical codes.
  • Coordinate with other trades on commercial construction sites to manage workflow, avoid conflicts, and maintain project schedules.
  • Maintain job site organization, including material tracking, tool management, and adherence to safety standards and procedures.
  • Lead and supervise small crews when required, delegating tasks, monitoring progress, and supporting team members in the field.
  • Work independently when needed, taking ownership of assigned scopes of work and completing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Adapt to a mix of new construction, renovations, and service upgrades, adjusting methods and priorities based on project conditions.
  • Perform physical tasks consistent with commercial electrical work, including lifting equipment and materials, climbing ladders or stairs, and pulling wire and feeders.

Essential

Skills:

  • Proven journeyman-level experience performing commercial electrical installation and service work in multi-family apartment buildings.
  • Strong proficiency with electrical conduit work, including running conduit, conduit bending, and installing complete conduit systems.
  • Hands-on experience installing and pulling electrical feeders and risers, including conduit, wire, and bus systems, in multi-story structures.
  • Ability to install, maintain, and upgrade electrical service equipment, panels, and distribution systems.
  • Demonstrated skill in electrical wiring installation and termination for service and distribution systems.
  • Effective troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and repair electrical systems in both occupied and new construction environments.
  • Thorough understanding of NEC and local electrical codes, with the ability to apply them to daily work to ensure compliance.
  • Capability to coordinate work with other trades and manage workflow on active commercial construction sites.
  • Comfort working independently and leading small crews, including task assignment and on-site oversight.
  • Physical ability to perform commercial electrical work, including lifting, climbing, and pulling wire and feeders.

Additional Skills &

Qualifications:

  • Experience working on multi-family apartment commercial construction sites, including ground-up projects and renovations.
  • Experience in service upgrades for existing buildings and integration with existing electrical infrastructure.
  • Ability to maintain organized job sites, including material tracking, inventory awareness, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Experience working across multiple floors in mechanical rooms, electrical closets, and vertical chases.
  • Comfort working in both indoor environments and occasional outdoor service installations.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with other trades and interacting with site personnel.
  • Attention to detail in documentation, labeling, and verification of installed electrical systems.
