POSITION SUMMARY

The Social Worker provides social-emotional support, family-centered services, and behavioral interventions to children, youth, and families across Bergen Family Center programs. This role partners with families, educators, and community providers to identify needs, coordinate services, support child and adolescent development, and promote positive outcomes through trauma-informed and evidence-based practices.

The Social Worker plays a critical role in strengthening the connection between children, families, educators, and community resources. By providing early identification, intervention, and ongoing support, this position helps create safe, inclusive environments where children and youth can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Parent & Family Support

  • Provide family-centered interventions for young children and brief supportive counseling and emotional check-ins for school-age youth and adolescents.
  • Partner with parents and caregivers to address developmental, behavioral, emotional, and family needs through consultation, education, and ongoing support.
  • Conduct developmental screenings, assessments, intakes, and ASQs, and identify children and youth requiring additional support.
  • Connect children, youth, and families to Early Intervention, mental health providers, and other community resources through referrals and coordinated follow-up.

Coaching, Collaboration & Communication

  • Coach educators and program staff on best practices, trauma-informed care, social-emotional development, and positive behavior supports.
  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, administrators, families, and community partners to support crisis intervention for adolescents, coordinated care, and student success.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and student support meetings to develop and monitor coordinated service plans.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, agency, program, and documentation requirements.

Transition Support

  • Support successful transitions between classrooms, grade levels, schools, and community-based services through collaboration with families and educational staff.

Behavioral Supports & Interventions

  • Develop individualized behavior support plans and intervention strategies in collaboration with families and educational staff to promote positive social-emotional development and successful participation across settings.
  • Facilitate evidence-based groups and social-emotional skill-building for adolescents.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related field preferred.

Experience

  • Experience working with young children, adolescents, families, and/or community-based services.
  • Experience providing social work services, family support, behavioral interventions, or counseling in an educational or human services setting.
  • Knowledge of child development, Early Intervention processes, trauma-informed care, and social-emotional learning practices.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW) required.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred.
  • Must successfully complete required background checks and meet applicable state licensing requirements.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Full-time schedule – providing support to two different programs.
  • Typically scheduled Monday through Friday during standard business hours.
  • Flexibility required to accommodate family meetings, staff coaching sessions, assessments, and program needs.
  • May require occasional availability outside standard hours for family engagement activities or urgent program matters.

COMPENSATION

  • Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 annually
  • Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • This position is eligible for professional development opportunities, including training and continuing education opportunities.
