Quality Control Chemist – Night Shift (12-Hour Rotating)
Location: Greater Dayton, OH Area
Pay: $28–$32/hr
Schedule: 12-hour rotating night shift (4:00 PM – 4:00 AM)
3 days per week + 1 day every other weekend (rotating schedule for 24/7 coverage)
OverviewA growing specialty manufacturing organization in the Greater Dayton area is seeking a Quality Control Chemist to support laboratory operations on a rotating night shift. This role is responsible for performing analytical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products within a regulated quality environment.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates with experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, or food manufacturing backgrounds (automotive not preferred) who enjoy working in a fast-paced, quality-driven setting.
Key Responsibilities Analytical Testing & Lab Operations- Perform QC testing on raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and project samples
- Utilize instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, and wet chemistry techniques
- Ensure all testing is performed in accordance with established quality systems and SOPs
- Support method development, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Operate within regulated environments aligned with ISO 9001, FSSC 22000 / ISO 22002, and cGxP
- Review analytical data and quality records for accuracy prior to release
- Support regulatory and quality assurance documentation as needed
- Participate in OOS investigations and CAPA implementation
- Perform routine calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and databases
- Support instrument troubleshooting and ensure compliance readiness
- Partner cross-functionally with production and technical teams
- Ensure smooth shift handoffs and clear communication of lab activities
- Assist in implementing new methods and improving testing capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field
- Experience in a regulated laboratory environment (GxP, ISO, GMP, etc.)
- Hands‑on experience with HPLC or GC plus wet chemistry techniques
- Strong understanding of laboratory documentation and data integrity
- 5+ years of laboratory experience in chemical, pharma, or food manufacturing
- Familiarity with cGMP, GLP, GDP, or food safety quality systems
- Experience with advanced analytical techniques (GC-MS, titrations, spectroscopy, etc.)
- Rotating 12-hour shift supporting 24/7 operations
- Occasional overtime may be required
- Candidates must be comfortable working in a production-supported lab environment
