Position: Quality Chemist (4pm - 4am)

QC Chemist
Location: Dayton, OH
Job Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $28–32/hour
Shift: 4:00 PM – 4:00 AM | 12-Hour Night Shift
Schedule: 2-2-3 Rotating Schedule (Work Every Other Weekend)

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a QC Chemist to support Quality Control laboratory operations in a regulated manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for performing analytical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and project samples while ensuring compliance with established quality systems and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience with HPLC and/or GC
, additional wet chemistry techniques, and experience working in a regulated environment such as pharmaceutical, chemical manufacturing, or food & beverage. This role offers the opportunity to join a growing team with the potential for permanent employment after six months.

Responsibilities
  • Perform analytical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and project samples following established SOPs.
  • Operate and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation including HPLC, GC, and other analytical equipment.
  • Perform wet chemistry testing including titrations, physical property testing, and other laboratory analyses.
  • Complete daily calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.
  • Review analytical data, processing records, and quality documentation for accuracy prior to release.
  • Support production by performing in-process testing and communicating results in a timely manner.
  • Investigate Out-of-Specification (OOS) results and assist with CAPA implementation and effectiveness monitoring.
  • Assist with analytical method development, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain laboratory documentation and ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems.
  • Update and maintain laboratory specifications and quality databases.
  • Support regulatory and quality assurance requests as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with GLP, cGMP, ISO 9001, FSSC 22000/ISO 22002, GDP, and other applicable quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with production, quality, and technical teams to resolve analytical issues.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or another related scientific discipline.
  • Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment (cGMP, GLP, GxP, ISO, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with HPLC or GC is required.
  • Experience with additional wet chemistry techniques.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Quality Control laboratory experience.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, chemical manufacturing, or food manufacturing industries (automotive experience will not be considered).
  • Experience with:
    • GC-MS
    • Liquid Chromatography
    • TLC
    • Automated titrations
    • Physical property testing
    • Color measurement
    • Spectroscopic techniques
  • Experience with OOS investigations, CAPAs, and method validation.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, FSSC 22000/ISO 22002, GLP, GDP, and cGMP quality systems.
  • Organoleptic (sensory) testing experience is a plus.
