Job Summary

Responsible for analyzing financial and operating data, performing accounting duties, and supporting Workday Adaptive Planning through integration troubleshooting, data loads, and modeling.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and distribute customer invoices, maintaining current customer demographics.
  • Research and respond to inquiries from customers and suppliers.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in billing, revenue, or account balances.
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and reporting packages for business leadership.
  • Build and maintain forward‑looking revenue models to support business planning and financial decision‑making.
  • Perform calculations, posting of journal entries, analysis, and reporting related to accounting transactions.
  • Reconcile complex accounts, conduct extensive research using advanced problem‑solving techniques, and resolve issues within corporate standards.
  • Manage expectations through consistent timely updates.
  • Develop and communicate solutions for continuous process improvement within the job function.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving integration errors between Workday and Adaptive Planning in partnership with model owners and IT support during routine data loads, report generation, and minor model maintenance in Adaptive Planning.
  • Document, report, and follow through on recommendations from projects.
  • Work with external organizations and internal departments on project initiatives and various accounting issues.
  • Research and respond to inquiries from other Nelnet departments.
Compensation

Annual compensation range: $50,000 – $70,000 depending on experience.

Location & Work Arrangement

Candidate location preference:
Lincoln, NE.
Hybrid work option: Associates within 30 miles of an office may work remotely part of the week while mandating in‑office presence three days per week.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration with an emphasis in accounting or finance.

Experience

3+ years accounting experience; exposure to Workday Financials, Workday Adaptive Planning, or similar platforms preferred but not required.

Competencies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, and ability to create Excel documents using a variety of formulas and tools.
  • Strong sense of accountability: timely completion of tasks, proactive communication of delays, and mandatory self‑management.
  • Prioritization and delivery under deadline constraints, managing multiple tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability; ability to handle large data sets and present analysis clearly.
  • Self‑motivated, capable of working independently or within a team with appropriate supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, engaging all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and understanding of complex accounting concepts and GAAP, including consolidation accounting.
