Job Description

Purpose Statement: The job of Multi‑Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Coordinator is to support the effective implementation of the district’s MTSS model and vision for students with academic and behavioral challenges. The coordinator assists in all MTSS procedures for identified schools, communicates with building site teams, works with the curriculum department to develop training for district staff, provides resources in the area of MTSS, guides school‑based processes, and monitors data to increase student achievement.

Salary: Salary dependent on experience and education (Certified teacher pay scale)

Contract Length: 179 days

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist with facilitating problem‑solving processes at school sites (e.g., developing agendas, monitoring procedures, program modifications, identifying resources) to ensure quality programming for students with academic and behavioral needs in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Collaborate and meet monthly with building administrators to monitor procedures and strategies, collect and analyze data, and measure growth of students who do not respond to core instruction to determine Tier 2 or Tier 3 intervention needs.
  • Develop a visual model and the vision of the MTSS process with assistance of the district leadership team and building principals for each building (reading, math, written language, behavior) to determine interventions, roles and responsibilities of staff, data and evaluation procedures at each level.
  • Facilitate communication to district leadership team and building principals quarterly or as needed to provide current data and information to sustain an effective and efficient MTSS program.
  • Investigate and evaluate research‑based interventions, coach teachers, and recommend programs and/or materials in content areas, social/emotional, and behavior.
  • Monitor identification of students who may require Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions and assist building principals and interventionists in data interpretation and grouping strategies.
  • Provide progress monitoring (student needs, interventions, resources) to measure student growth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 and the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Help identify if the intervention is based on skill vs will and suggest behavioral and academic recommendations accordingly.
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of coaching educators on MTSS frameworks, ensuring integrated support for students' academic growth, behavioral health, and social‑emotional development.
  • Skill in leveraging data‑driven insights to identify challenges, monitor progress, and refine instructional or behavioral interventions.
  • Knowledge of state standards for all grade levels, graduation expectations, and MTSS guidelines.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, parents, and stakeholders.
  • Experience in fostering professional growth through peer coaching, workshop facilitation, and transparent communication with all school stakeholders.
  • Skill at positively influencing educational outcomes at building, district, regional, or statewide scale.
  • Skill in communicating effectively with parents and community members regarding educational improvement and research.
  • Expertise in managing complex projects and daily workflows, balancing immediate tasks against long‑term organizational goals.
Qualifications
  • Experience:

    At least 5 years as a teacher, interventionist, or in a leadership role, with at least 3 years of experience using data to drive student outcomes.
  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree;
    Master’s in Education in Educational Leadership or Curriculum and Instruction is preferred.
  • Certification:
    Standard certification in education, administration, or curriculum and instruction.
