PositionWe are seeking a Network Specialist I to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. In this role you will design, engineer, integrate, operate, and maintain electronic security services for federal, local, and commercial customers, including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio‑visual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command‑and‑control systems.
Responsibilities- Technical
- Survey client sites, produce measurement results, and report findings in actionable form.
- Design
- Install, configure, and maintain network services, equipment, and devices.
- Simulate expected system performance with field engineers and provide feedback on improvements.
- Assist senior network engineers in identifying and resolving network security issues.
- Support network designs for each SLA classification.
- Supports Design Documents
- Assist senior engineers in preparing narrative, system, and subsystem design documents (CAD, panels, layouts, wiring, hardware, communications).
- Prepare specifications and perform QA/QC and technical reviews of designs.
- Resolve comments, test and commission systems, author test plans, and prepare test reports.
- Commission deployed systems and develop test fixtures and simulation devices.
- Service & Maintenance
- Troubleshoot complex network problems and recommend operational efficiency improvements.
- Perform preventive maintenance (software/hardware/firmware upgrades, security updates, performance upgrades).
- Develop and submit maintenance plans and role‑back plans.
- Serve as backup during team members’ paid time off and perform hardware/software upgrades and replacements.
- System Analysis and Reporting
- Document troubleshooting procedures and network operations.
- Apply moderate knowledge of network administration to support business operations.
- Assist team members in resolving basic/moderate network/telecom issues.
- Interpret and analyze results versus benchmarks and goals.
- Work with project managers to meet network task expectations and project deadlines.
- Clearance / Citizenship – U.S. citizenship required;
DoD Secret clearance must be obtained. - Education and Experience – HS Diploma with 6+ years of progressive experience; or Associate’s Degree with 4+ years of progressive experience; or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related discipline.
- Technical Skills – Understanding of ITIL concepts; knowledge of network concepts, technologies, and tools; ability to design network infrastructure; system development methodology and project management skills.
- Communication Skills – Strong oral, technical writing, and presentation skills; ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders.
- Behavioral Skills – Resourceful, self‑starter, flexible, proactive, solution‑oriented, and customer‑oriented.
- Reading network and connectivity schematics and plans.
- Network system startup, configuration, and calibration; testing and troubleshooting.
- Use of basic electrical and machinist hand tools.
- Use of industry tools such as spectrum analyzer, cable tester, alignment tool.
- Knowledge of ticketing and monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, or Arista platforms.
- Knowledge of standard network software (Visio, Wireshark, Putty, CLI).
Knowledge of cybersecurity and STIG applications to network systems.
