About the RoleThe Painter/Blaster role is critical in preparing and finishing surfaces to ensure durability, aesthetic appeal, and protection against environmental factors. This position involves the meticulous application of paint and abrasive blasting techniques to a variety of materials and structures, often in industrial or commercial settings. The successful candidate will be responsible for surface preparation, including cleaning, sanding, and removing old coatings, followed by the precise application of primers, paints, and protective coatings.
Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards are paramount to maintain quality and prevent damage to surfaces or harm to personnel.
- Perform abrasive blasting and industrial painting on various surfaces and structures
- Prepare surfaces by removing rust, scale, and old coatings
- Apply primers, epoxy coatings, and topcoats to meet client specs
- Operate and maintain spray equipment and blasting tools
- Follow all safety procedures and quality standards
- 2+ years of blasting/painting experience (marine, industrial, or oil & gas preferred)
- Knowledge of coatings systems and surface prep standards (e.g., SSPC/NACE)
- Ability to read and interpret job specifications and safety procedures
- Must be physically fit and able to work in confined spaces or at heights
- Safety-conscious with a strong work ethic
- Certification (preferred): NACE, SSPC, or equivalent
- $22 - 28/hr D.O.E.
