REGISTERED NURSE - PSYCH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH FULL TIME DAYSHIFT
We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Behavioral Health team y's Regional Medical Center in Enid, OK. This role provides care to diverse patient populations and offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community.
Position SummaryThe RN performs multiple roles including caregiver, decision maker, client advocate, manager, rehabilitator, comforter, communicator, and teacher. Responsibilities include assessment, planning and implementation of nursing care, documentation, and collaboration within an interdisciplinary team.
Job Duties / Responsibilities- Ensure patient dignity and respect patient values.
- Provide patient safety, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Assess and reassess patient needs within 24 hrs of admission.
- Communicate patient needs effectively.
- Conduct therapies in accordance with patient diagnosis and needs.
- Plan and implement efficient discharge planning.
- Document progress notes and assessments per program procedures.
- Develop individualized treatment plans.
- Serve as the primary nursing care coordinator for assigned patients.
- Perform treatment interventions per physician orders.
- Interpret nursing and treatment needs for non‑professional staff.
- Participate in psychotherapy, group, family sessions and educational seminars.
- Enact the counseling role of the nurse.
- Document continuous assessment, interventions, and evaluations of progress.
- Attend staffing, communicate treatment goals to staff.
- Model effective communication with families and hospital personnel.
- Assist in seclusion/restraint placement and monitor precautions.
- Model appropriate telephone etiquette and intervention techniques.
- Provide psychiatric education to patient and family.
- Provide resources and support prior, during, and after treatment.
- Act as liaison between patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
- Coordinate treatment with external health and social agencies.
- Measure patient performance, communicate results to supervisor.
- Identify areas needing improvement and use facility performance improvement process.
- Evaluate the appropriateness and quality of nursing care continuously.
- Monitor and enforce proper techniques and procedures; supervise unlicensed staff.
- Assess patients for fall risks and other risk factors.
- Report safety deficiencies to supervisor.
- Coordinate therapeutic environment function.
- Complete required staff competencies per program regulations.
- Attend in‑services and seminars for continuous learning.
- Assess clinical performance of nursing staff under direction.
- Orient new employees.
- Consult on mental health and chemical dependency issues in other units.
- Follow CQI+ procedures and submit outcome data weekly.
- Teach hygienic practices to patients.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Current RN licensure from the State of Oklahoma required.
- ADN required; BSN preferred.
- Current BLS required; ACLS acceptable.
- Secure training required within 60 days of hiring, renewal annually thereafter.
- 1‑3 years experience as a Mental Health RN preferred.
- Must complete pre‑employment assessment.
- Basic computer skills required.
