Position Overview and Responsibilities

The Jeffries Lab is looking for a summer Laboratory Technician. This position is in the Arthritis & Clinical Immunology department and will provide motivated students the opportunity to assist with research studies directed towards understanding the mechanisms of osteoarthritis.

Duties may include:

  • handling of patient samples
  • performing a variety of cell culture and molecular biology techniques
  • extraction, analysis, and presentation of data
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong interest in biomedical research
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must be team-oriented, personable and able to deal with diverse personalities
  • Must be able to take direction, follow instructions and keep meticulous records
  • Must be reliable and self-driven with a high attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills to include knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
  • Entry level position; however individuals with previous technician experience will be considered
  • Previous experience included molecular biology such as DNA purification, restriction cloning, PCR, site-directed mutagenesis, and/or RNA handling
  • Exposure to a clinical environment
Work Hours

Approximately 20 hours per week.
