POSITION
PURPOSE
The Emergency Medical Technician is a member of the EMS team, under the direct supervision of the Ambulance Manager, the first responsibility is to provide direct, safe, dignified, efficient and concerned patient care. Performs all duties in a manner consistent with the mission and values of MVMC.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Satisfactory time and attendance.Participates in shift change to promote a team approach to patient care.Stays up to date on hospital, nursing, and EMS emails.Follows all FCC regulations when communicating via electronic communications equipment.Keeps ambulance clean, stocked, and tagged as needed.Responds to 911 and hospital transfers in a timely manner.Participates in the use of IAM Responding. Utilizes "respond now" while on call to keep partner up to date with response awareness.Use of appropriate radio communication with all mutual aid partners.Utilization of ambulance equipment, proper patient care, and team-based approach toward treating the patient and moving them toward definitive care.Side work completeness.Communicates clearly both verbal and written.Clear understanding of MVMC and Ambulance policy and procedures. Familiarity with Policy Pro.Assistance in other areas throughout the medical center as needed, i.e., central supply, environmental services, etc. Performs other job duties as necessary.Acts as an advocate for the patient/family.Promotes a safe environment for patient care and all employees.Expected to develop and maintain professional and courteous working relationships with all other staff, patients, health professionals, students, vendors, outside resources, and volunteers of the organization.Completion of KnowBe4 in a timely fashion.Maintain all pertinent logs, reports, etc., as per policy.Shift coverage outside of normal job duties.Responds positively to change, showing a willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work.Other duties as assigned.AMBULANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform ambulance checks daily.Responds to 911 and hospital transfers in a timely manner.Participates in the use of IAM Responding. Utilizes "respond now" while on call to keep partner up to date with response awareness.Use of appropriate radio communication with all mutual aid partners.Utilization of ambulance equipment, proper patient care, and team-based approach toward treating the patient and moving them toward definitive care.Completion of patient hand off, restocking the ambulance, cleaning equipment, and placing the ambulance back in service with dispatch.Participates with On-call coverage and response.Completion of endorsements and documentation.Completion of PCR report on Image Trend with all pertinent paperwork such as face sheet, medical necessity, refusal, ABN or other documentation, within 24 hours after the call. Assures accuracy and timely completion of all paperwork in a timely manner.ER-TECH RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists nursing staff and CNAs during shift change covering the hospital floor and the ER as needed.Communication with nurses and ER provider for care, diagnostics, and plan.Quick registration of patients.Assists nurses and CNAs with call lights, movement of patients, treatment, clean up, etc.Promotes safe, effective infection control measures for patient care. i.e., safe linen handling, appropriate peri-care, assistance with room cleaning post patient discharge, etc.Assistance in gathering patient pertinent information…
