Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and reconditioning machinery and facility equipment. This role uses diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.

Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced maintenance and repairs across the facility, including building systems, grounds, lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and production equipment. The technician independently identifies issues, implements solutions, and ensures equipment and facility systems operate safely and efficiently.
  • Work with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and reliability.
  • Perform self-directed reactive and planned maintenance, including locating root causes, dismantling devices, replacing defective parts, testing performance, and reconditioning.
  • Perform simple welding tasks and order supplies and repair items as necessary.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot machine failures; act as a proactive project champion and coordinate with planner/scheduler. Lay out, wire, build, and troubleshoot electrical panels and/or other machinery to NFPA/NEC standards.
  • Maintain grounds and building exterior; perform routine electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and HVAC repairs as needed.
  • Provide assistance to lower‑level technicians and leadership; participate in training and development for advanced functions.
  • Set up and operate multiple machining operations (e.g., lathe, drill press, grinder) to make and repair parts as required.
  • Troubleshoot 480V components including drives and PLC software; knowledge of BMC and Allen-Bradley is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Omron, Barber Coleman controllers; ABB, Reliance, and Yaskawa drives.
  • Repair and install A/C and D/C drives as required.
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to use measuring instruments and perform basic failure analysis
  • Understanding of electronic components to troubleshoot and repair
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and interpret data
  • 5 years of experience as an industrial electrician/maintenance or in an extrusion manufacturing environment preferred
What To Expect

The atmosphere is that of a manufacturing plant. The position will primarily work where moving machinery produces noise. Employees must wear Personal Protective Equipment issued for that location. Temperature can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. Physical demands may include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing/pulling, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, balancing, handling, gripping, and talking (hearing).
