The welding instructor prepares course syllabi and instructional materials, delivers instruction in both a classroom and laboratory setting, and evaluates student progress. This is a full-time position which may include teaching day and/or night classes. Travel may be required to instructional sites. Position will be based at both the Enterprise and Geneva campuses dependent on need.

1. Prepares course syllabi and instructional materials, delivers instruction, and evaluates and records student progress in assigned courses

2. Conducts instruction in a wide variety of settings and time frames to include day and evening at any instructional site

3. Employs appropriate teaching strategies in classroom and laboratory settings

4. Organizes and maintains instructional equipment as required

5. Explains, demonstrates, and ensures the safe use of tools, materials, and equipment in classroom and laboratory settings

6. Evaluates and advises College administration regarding textbooks and other instructional materials pertinent to the area of instruction

7. Orders required materials using established procedures

8. Advises students on class schedules and coursework for degree plan completion

9. Schedules and maintains office hours for student assistance

10. Promotes leadership and enrichment experiences through student organizations and/or other activities

11. Remains current on technological and employment trends pertinent to area of instruction

12. Maintains current industry certifications as required

13. Interacts with representatives from the welding industry and agencies

14. Participates in College meetings, College committees, and professional development activities

15. Participates in curriculum development, evaluation, and revision

16. Recruits students for the program

17. Participates in the College's planning process

18. Works with the Dean of Instruction and Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning to develop, collect, analyze, and evaluate Student Learning Outcome (SLO) data

19. May be assigned as program lead by Dean of Instruction. Program lead will coordinate across multiple instructional sites to ensure continuity and quality in instruction, to standardize content, and to streamline equipment purchasing.

21. Complies with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College

22. Performs other duties as assigned

The employee must have mobility to move on- and off-campus.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A minimum of a high school diploma with six (6) years of full-time welding experience  

OR Associates degree or equivalent and three (3) years of full-time welding experience

2. Ability to obtain relevant industry certifications in welding including NC3 Lincoln and AWS.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1.Associate's degree in Welding or related field

2.Secondary or post-secondary teaching experience

3.

Experience with online learning

4.Professional industry certifications

SALARY:

Salary Schedule D1 $ 42,108- $94,363 (9-month salary) $13,001- $29,184 (3-month Summer salary), based upon the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule to be determined by the applicant's education and years of applicable experience. Applicant acknowledges that if selected for the position that applicant's placement on the applicable salary schedule will be dependent upon the verified information provided. This is an institutionally funded position.
