Retail & Store Manager, Operations Manager
Position Summary
Leads and develops teams effectively by teaching, training, and actively listening to associates touring stores and providing feedback. Utilizes Tourto Teach, communication, and collaboration at all levels to guide store operations, technology initiatives, merchandising, and company direction. Introduces and leads company change efforts, providing clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions and communicate objectives to teams. Models and demonstrates exceptional customer service standards by following and demonstrating the One Best Way (OBW) service model, managing and supporting customer service initiatives such as community outreach and store events, and ensuring customer needs, complaints, and issues are successfully resolved.
Develops and implements action plans to correct deficiencies and provides process‑improvement leadership to ensure a high‑quality customer experience. Drives financial performance and sales of the designated store area by reviewing Profit/Loss statements, managing budgeting, forecasting, and controlling expenses, and ensuring effective merchandise presentation, seasonal transitions, inventory flow, and operational processes. Provides supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates by hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, setting clear expectations, providing recognition, and promoting a belonging mindset.
Coordinates and oversees job‑related activities by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, supporting plans and initiatives, and measuring progress toward goals. Ensures compliance with company policies, supports the Open Door Policy, and promotes the Walmart values of integrity, respect, and customer focus.
• 2 years of college; OR 1 year of retail experience and 1 year of supervisory experience; OR 2 years of general work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience.
• For firearms‑selling facilities: successful completion of a firearms‑specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training.
• For ammunition‑selling facilities with state requirements: current state‑issued Certificate of Eligibility.
• Required to attend and complete all job‑required trainings and assessments, such as Academy and Open Door trainings.
Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through LiveBetterU and Bellevue University. General work experience supervising 5 or more direct reports, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.
Salary and BenefitsThe annual salary range for this position is $65,000.00 – $. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional components may apply, such as Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) based on location and a complex structure factor for challenging roles. This job may also offer a state pay differential, where applicable.
