Anticipated Start:  School Year

Ephrata Area School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Consultant for Autistic Support (AS) to join our Student Support Services team. This itinerant position plays a critical role in strengthening Autistic Support programming across the district by building staff capacity and ensuring high-fidelity implementation of Verbal Behavior / Applied Behavior Analysis (VB/ABA) practices.

The Special Education Consultant will collaborate closely with the Coordinator of Student Support Services, Coordinator of Special Education, Special Education Supervisors, building administrators, faculty, and external partners to support consistent, effective instructional and behavioral practices for students with autism.

Key Responsibilities

Program Support & Coaching

* Provide classroom-based observations, feedback, modeling, and guided practice to support independent implementation of VB/ABA programming.

* Model evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies for teachers and para educators.

* Reinforce effective staff practices and support continuous improvement within AS classrooms.

* Serve as substitute or additional classroom support when needed to model VB/ABA concepts, analyze student behavior, support para educators, and clarify classroom roles.

Professional Development & Training

* Coordinate, design, and deliver ongoing group professional development for AS staff throughout the school year.

* Plan and facilitate summer "Bootcamp" training for new AS staff members.

* Provide resources and reference materials to support VB/ABA concepts and develop key staff within AS classrooms.

Collaboration & Communication

* Communicate regularly with Supervisors, building administrators, IU #13, and PaTTAN consultants to support program implementation and student progress.

* Communicate AS program needs to the Coordinator/Assistant Coordinator of Student Support Services and building principals.

* Attend departmental, staff, and other meetings to ensure effective communication and alignment.

Technical Assistance & Compliance

* Provide ongoing technical assistance related to:

* Curriculum implementation

* Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs)

* IEP development and revisions

* Reevaluations

* Progress monitoring and data review

* Student and staff schedules within AS and ABA-based programming

* Conduct FBAs as needed.

* Monitor and maintain processes for students receiving Extended School Year (ESY) services within AS classrooms.

District-Wide Support

* Provide ongoing assistance to regular and special education faculty related to differentiated instruction, behavior instruction, and inclusive practices to strengthen understanding of AS/ABA concepts.

* Maintain professional growth by staying current with legal requirements, research, and best practices through conferences, trainings, and professional meetings.

Other Duties

* Perform additional duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Student Support Services and Coordinator of Special Education.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education.

* Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Special Education.

* Strong knowledge of special education law, practices, and compliance.

* Experience working with students with autism in an educational setting preferred.

* Knowledge of VB/ABA instructional and behavioral interventions.

* Strong communication, collaboration, and coaching skills.

* Demonstrated patience, empathy, and commitment to student growth.

* Ability to travel between school buildings as an itinerant consultant.
