SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Position Summary

The Ephrata Area School District is seeking a motivated and student-centered Middle School Social Studies Teacher to deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that fosters critical thinking, historical understanding, and civic responsibility. The teacher will create a positive learning environment that supports academic growth for all students.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement rigorous Social Studies curriculum aligned with Pennsylvania standards.

* Deliver engaging instruction using research-based strategies, differentiated instruction, and instructional technology.

* Assess and monitor student progress to guide instruction and support student achievement.

* Maintain a safe, structured, and respectful classroom environment.

* Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development and instructional consistency.

* Communicate academic expectations and student progress with students and families.

* Support diverse learners, including students with IEPs, GIEPs, and English Language Learners.

* Participate in professional development and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (required)

* Valid Pennsylvania Department of Education certification in Social Studies or appropriate related content area

* Teaching or student teaching experience at the middle school level preferred

* Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills

Other Requirements:
Applicants must also possess the following criminal clearances obtained within the last 12 months:
Act 34 - PA Criminal Record;
Act 114 - FBI Background Check;
Act 151 - PA Child Abuse Clearance.

The Ephrata Area School District also requires a pre-employment drug test, physical, and TB test upon offer of employment as directed by PDE and the PA Department of Health.

Based upon current contract
